The Olympiad was held from August 9 to 16 at the CAEx exhibition complex.

This year, the event set a record for scale, bringing together 386 schoolchildren from 97 countries. Including delegation leaders, international experts, jury members, and organizers, the total number of participants exceeded 900.

The Olympiad program consisted of two five-hour rounds. In each round, participants solved three complex algorithmic problems. The maximum possible score across both rounds was 600 points.

The Uzbekistan national team achieved its best-ever result at the International Olympiad in Informatics, with all four main contestants winning medals.

Jakhonali Khaydaraliyev, a ninth-grade student at the Muhammad al-Khwarizmi Specialized School in Tashkent, earned a silver medal.

Bronze medals were awarded to students from Presidential Schools: Timur Kadyrbergenov from Nukus and Ulugbek Rakhmatullayev and Jakhongirshoh Avazkhonov from Namangan.

Uzbekistan was 25th in the unofficial team standings.

Sardorbek Salimov, representing the Presidential School in Navoi, received an honorable mention.

China’s Xu Qiwen took first place in the overall individual standings with 498.27 points, while Russia’s Vladislav Jiganov, from the Specialized Educational and Scientific Center of Lomonosov Moscow State University, finished second with 482.75 points.

Based on the IOI 2026 results, China, Japan, Poland, the United States, Malaysia, and Taiwan delivered strong performances, securing leading positions among the top-performing countries.

Kazakhstan’s national team ranked among the world’s top ten. Its representatives won one gold and three silver medals, and Maksim Tsoi finished fifth in the global overall standings.

The Belarusian team won four medals: one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals.

A total of 31 participants received gold medals, 62 received silver medals, and 94 received bronze medals.

The Ministry of Digital Technologies of the Republic of Uzbekistan organized IOI 2026, with support from IT Park Uzbekistan. Telegram, the event’s special partner, established a prize fund in the form of exclusive digital Algorithm Cups awards for the top 235 participants.

The 39th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2027) will take place in Germany.
