Six killed, 31 injured after passenger bus overturns in Algeria

Algiers, Aug. 16 (SANA)Six people were killed and 31 others injured on Sunday when a passenger bus veered off the road and overturned in Naama province in northwesternAlgeria, authorities said.

Algeria’s Civil Protection service said the bus overturned on National Road No. 6, leaving six people dead and 31 others with injuries of varying severity.

Emergency teamstransferred the injured to hospital for treatment, the service, which operates under the Interior Ministry, said on its website.

The crash comes weeks after 25 people were killed and dozens injured in a road accident in the Berrahmoune El Kerma area of Boumerdes province on July 31.

Algeria’s General Directorate of Civil Protection said 54 people were killed and 2,145 injured in 1,667 road accidents across several provinces between Aug. 2 and 8.
