In recent years, threats surrounding cyberspace have become even more serious, and news about cyber attacks is frequently reported. There may be someone close to you who has been affected. Cyber attacks are never someone else's problem; anyone can become a victim.
In addition to becoming a victim, your account, device, or information that has been illegally accessed may be misused, and you yourself may become a party to a cybercrime.
There is also concern that during long holidays, companies may be unprepared for cyberattacks, such as when system administrators are absent.
In order to improve the safety and security of society as a whole, it is essential that each and every one of you maintain a high level of security awareness and cooperate with us.
In order to prevent damage from cyber attacks, we would like to introduce the things you should first do.
① Measures against unauthorized logins Make your passwords difficult to guess and avoid reusing them. Also, don't rely solely on passwords; use multi-factor authentication such as fingerprint recognition or facial recognition.
② Phishing measures Never open links or attachments in suspicious emails or SMS.
③Support fraud measures Do not panic when a sudden warning appears. Calmly check whether it is really necessary to call the contacts displayed in the warning or install the software.
④ Vulnerability countermeasures Please perform the necessary updates to keep the OS, apps, devices, etc. you are using up to date.
Also, check your organization's emergency contact system, and after a long vacation, check for viruses on the devices you took out during your vacation.
On the website of the National Cyber Control Office, we have published the ``9 Cyber Security Rules'' (https://t.co/nMtEj4PoBC), which summarizes the basic measures that everyone should take, and the ``Internet Safety and Security Handbook'' (https://t.co/0tmqvLfvZS), which introduces key points for using the Internet safely and securely. Please take advantage of this information and use it as a countermeasure.
The measures taken by each citizen will not only prevent individual cyber damage, but will also lead to the safety of society as a whole.
During the Obon holiday, when you have the opportunity to meet with relatives and friends, we would appreciate it if you would talk about and check the security measures around you such as smartphones and PCs.
