Presidente Abinader inaugura moderno Batallón de Transportación del Ejército para fortalecer la movilidad, el mantenimiento de la flota y la capacidad de respuesta operativa
Santo Domingo.–President Luis Abinader, together with the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, inaugurated this Saturday the new Transportation Battalion of the Army of the Dominican Republic, a modern infrastructure that will strengthen the logistical and operational capacity of the institution, optimize the maintenance and availability of its vehicle fleet and improve the conditions of the personnel responsible for guaranteeing the transportation necessary to fulfill military missions.
The installation, located in the First Brigade of the Army, at kilometer 25 of the Duarte Highway, in Pedro Brand, is part of the modernization process of the Armed Forces and investments aimed at strengthening their capabilities and service conditions.
Upon his arrival at the First Brigade of the Army, the head of State, in his capacity as supreme authority of the Armed Forces and the National Police, received the military honors corresponding to his investiture.
Operational strengthening of the Army with new facilities stands out
During the event, the General Commander of the Army, Major General Jorge Iván Camino Pérez, highlighted that the new facilities represent a strengthening of the logistical and operational capabilities of the institution, for the fulfillment of its responsibilities in matters of security and national defense.
Camino Pérez explained that the work, built with an investment of RD 142,238,939.06, represents a direct contribution to the Army's response capacity and the well-being of the personnel in charge of keeping the means of transportation used in institutional missions operational.
He reported that the complex has five hangars and three buildings intended for barracks for military personnel, administrative offices, warehouses, industrial kitchen and dining room, spaces that will facilitate the maintenance, conservation and availability of the Army's vehicle fleet.
Commander Camino Pérez indicated that these improvements are part of the Army's transformation and modernization process, with the purpose of having a more cohesive, disciplined and efficient institution, prepared to respond to current demands and fulfill its mission at the service of the nation.
At the end of his words, he thanked President Luis Abinader, the Minister of Defense and the Ministry of Public Works and Communications for the support provided to materialize the project and prepare the access roads to the facilities.
Accompanying the president were the Vice Minister of Defense for Military Affairs, Major General Miguel Ángel Rubio Báez (ERD); for Naval and Coastal Affairs, Vice Admiral Agustín Alberto Morillo Rodríguez (ARD), and for Air and Space Affairs, aviation technical major general Carlos Ramón Febrillet Rodríguez (FARD); the president's military advisor, Major General Rafael Antonio Carrasco Paulino, and the Inspector General of the Armed Forces, Major General Delio Buenaventura Colón Rosario (ERD).
Also present were the Commander General of the Dominican Republic Navy, Vice Admiral Juan Bienvenido Crisóstomo Martínez (ARD), and that of the Air Force, Pilot Major General Floreal T. Suárez Martínez (FARD), as well as the Director of the National Police, Major General Andrés Modesto Cruz Cruz, and the Migration Officer, Vice Admiral Luis Rafael Lee Ballester.
