Abu Dhabi, Aug. 15 (SANA)The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned an Iranian attack on an Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) vessel while transiting theStrait of Hormuz, saying no injuries were reported.

TheUAE Foreign Ministrysaid on X that the attack violated international law and U.N. Security Council Resolution 2817 on freedom of navigation. It described attacks on commercial shipping and the use of the strait for economic pressure as acts of piracy that threaten regional stability and global energy security.

The UAE called on Iran to halt the attacks and reopen the strait fully and unconditionally.

ADNOC said the vessel was attacked on Friday evening, the second such incident in two days after two of its vessels were attacked on Thursday.

Reuters reported no immediate comment from Iran.

Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, said Abu Dhabi would defend its sovereignty and interests while continuing to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic options.

Separately, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations agency reported that a bulk carrier was struck by an unknown projectile in the strait on Friday. It was unclear whether it was the same ADNOC vessel.

About a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz before the conflict. Shipping has faced repeated disruptions since the U.S.-Israeli war with Iran began on February 28.
