Cairo, Aug. 15 (SANA)Arab ParliamentSpeakerMohamed al-Yamahirejected any move to withdrawSlovenia‘s recognition of theState of Palestineor relocate its embassy to occupied Jerusalem, warning of consequences for regional peace and stability.

In letters to Slovenia’s National Assembly and National Council and theEuropean Parliament, al-Yamahi said such steps would violateinternational lawand undermine efforts toward a two-state solution.

He said recognition of Palestine reflected the Palestinian people’s inalienable right to self-determination and warned that moving an embassy to occupied Jerusalem would violate U.N. Security Council Resolution 478 of 1980 and other relevant resolutions.

Al-Yamahi called on the European Parliament to preserve support for Palestinian rights and oppose policies of annexation and settlement.

He also cited a July 19, 2024, International Court of Justice advisory opinion on states’ obligations regarding Israel’s occupation of Palestinian territory and reaffirmed efforts to mobilize international parliamentary support for Palestinian rights.
