Presidente Abinader inaugura tras 15 años de espera el Liceo Eliseo Viola, que beneficiará a estudiantes de diversas comunidades de San Juan
La Cana de Guazumal, San Juan. -President Luis Abinaderinaugurated this Friday the Eliseo Viola Lyceum, in the La Cana de Guazumal community, San Juan province, a work that will benefit students from Cana Arriba and Abajo, Los Romeros, El Coco, Hato Nuevo and Los Anises, as well as other nearby communities, after 15 years of waiting.
The work was carried out by the Directorate of School Infrastructure (DIE), under the direction of engineer Roberto Herrera, as part of the actions carried out by the Government to expand educational infrastructure and respond to the demand for new school spaces.
During the event, the Vice Minister of Teacher Accreditation and Certification, Francisco de Óleo Ramírez, on behalf of the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, highlighted that the delivery of the educational center, after approximately 15 years in the construction process, represents an important step to guarantee decent spaces for students. He also valued the efforts of the students, parents and teachers, who have maintained good academic performance despite the previous conditions.
He also said that the high school has six classrooms with capacity for 150 high school students, which will expand educational coverage and bring educational services closer to families in this area of the San Juan province.
De Óleo Ramírez reported that the Education Regional is preparing to receive around 81,000 students at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year and highlighted the improvements being carried out in educational centers. He indicated that some 180 classrooms have been completed, while 50 are in the maintenance process; In addition, 37 prefabricated classrooms have already been installed, 13 are in the installation process and another 28 will be incorporated soon, along with 11 initial level classrooms.
The vice minister pointed out that the campus will soon receive furniture and technological equipment, which will contribute to strengthening the training of students and the development of their skills.
They call to take advantage of and take care of the new educational facilities
The student Crisveli del Carmen Mateo, from the fifth grade of secondary school, valued the delivery of the high school as the beginning of a new stage for the educational community and thanked President Luis Abinader for making a work that for years represented a need and a hope for the families of the area.
Mateo urged his colleagues to take advantage of the new facilities, take care of the educational center and take responsibility for the training opportunities. He expressed his hope that their classrooms will train professionals who contribute to the development of their communities and the country.
The parish priest of the Nuestra Señora de la Altagracia church, José Antonio Álamo, described the delivery of the educational center as a blessing for the community and urged students, teachers and families to take care of and take advantage of the new facilities. With this high school, the benefited communities have a decent educational space that will contribute to strengthening the training of new generations and the development of the province of San Juan.
The new educational center responds to a long-standing demand from these communities and will allow children and adolescents to receive education in a modern, equipped space with better conditions for their academic training, expanding the educational opportunities of families in the area.

Asimismo dijo que el liceo cuenta con seis aulas con capacidad para 150 estudiantes de secundaria, lo que permitirá ampliar lacobertura educativay acercar los servicios de enseñanza a las familias de esta zona de la provincia San Juan. De Óleo Ramírez informó que la Regional de Educación se prepara para recibir alrededor de81,000 estudiantesal inicio del año escolar 2026-2027 y resaltó las mejoras que se ejecutan en los centros educativos. Indicó que unas 180 aulas han sido culminadas, mientras 50 se encuentran en proceso de mantenimiento; además, 37 aulas prefabricadas ya fueron instaladas, 13 están en proceso de instalación y otras 28 serán incorporadas próximamente, junto a 11 aulas del nivel inicial. El viceministro señaló que próximamente el plantel recibirámobiliario y equipos tecnológicos, lo que contribuirá a fortalecer la formación de los estudiantes y al desarrollo de sus competencias.
