Wasfi Massarani celebrates Syrian heritage, revolution at Summer of Syria Festival
Damascus, Aug. 14 (SANA)Syrian singerWasfi Massaraniperformed a mix of patriotic and traditional songs atDamascus Citadelas part of theSummer of Syria Family Festival2026, in an evening celebrating Syrian heritage and the victory of the Syrian revolution.
The concert drew a large audience to the citadel’s main stage, combining music, singing and interactive performances in a festive atmosphere.
Massarani performed songs commemorating the sacrifices of Syrians and the overthrow of the deposed regime, including “Ala Hawdalak Yaba,” “Skaba Ya Dmou’ al-Ain,” “Shamna Horra” and “Mawtini.”
He also dedicated “Yammo Ya Umm al-Shuhada Yammo” to the mothers of martyrs before closing with popular songs including “Janna Janna,” as the audience joined in with chants and singing.
Attendees said the festival offered Syrians an opportunity to celebrate after years of hardship while reviving songs associated with the country’s collective memory and heritage.
Mohammad Ouda, an audience member, said the event created “a genuine space for joy after difficult years” and brought together the performer and audience through a shared national experience.
Another attendee, Mahmoud Anjiri, said the festival was bringing different generations together and helping restore Damascus Citadel’s role as a venue for cultural events.
The Summer of Syria Family Festival 2026 is hosting a range of cultural and entertainment activities aimed at revitalizing Damascus’ historic spaces and providing a platform for Syrian artists and families.
