Vaarverbod M.V. Canawaima opgeheven
Canawaima Ferry Service Inc. (CFS) and Canawaima Management Company N.V. (CMC) announce that the announced sailing ban, after the re-inspection of the M.V. Canawaima on August 13, 2026, was dissolved. The ferry service between Suriname and Guyana will be resumed.
The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Tourism (TCT) emphasizes that the safety of passengers, crew and the vessel is the highest priority. The further technical follow-up of the vessel will continue in accordance with the agreements made.
CFS, CMC and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Tourism express their appreciation for the constructive cooperation and commitment of the competent authorities and involved parties in both Suriname and Guyana. Special thanks go to all employees who have committed themselves during the past period, as well as to the media and the community for their involvement and understanding.
The joint efforts remain focused on ensuring a safe, reliable and sustainable ferry connection between Suriname and Guyana.

Canawaima Ferry Service Inc. (CFS) en Canawaima Management Company N.V. (CMC) delen mee dat het aangekondigde vaarverbod, na de herinspectie van de M.V. Canawaima op 13 augustus 2026, is opgeheven. De veerdienst tussen Suriname en Guyana wordt hiermee hervat. Het Ministerie van Transport, Communicatie en Toerisme (TCT) benadrukt dat de veiligheid van passagiers, bemanning en het vaartuig de hoogste prioriteit heeft. De verdere technische opvolging van het vaartuig zal overeenkomstig de gemaakte afspraken worden voortgezet. CFS, CMC en het Ministerie van Transport, Communicatie en Toerisme spreken hun waardering uit voor de constructieve samenwerking en inzet van de bevoegde autoriteiten en betrokken partijen in zowel Suriname als Guyana. Bijzondere dank gaat uit naar alle medewerkers die zich de afgelopen periode hebben ingezet, evenals naar de media en de gemeenschap voor hun betrokkenheid en begrip. De gezamenlijke inzet blijft gericht op het waarborgen van een veilige, betrouwbare en duurzame veerverbinding tussen Suriname en Guyana.
