We have received reports that multiple people have passed away in Chiba Prefecture due to the "disaster caused by heavy rains that began on August 13th," including those whose connections to the disaster are currently being investigated, and that there are also others missing.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to those who have passed away, and we would also like to express our deepest condolences to the bereaved families.
We also know that there are many people who have been injured or whose homes have been damaged by flooding. I would like to express my heartfelt sympathies to all those affected by the disaster.
In recent years, disasters caused by heavy rain have become more frequent. In order to protect the lives and livelihoods of the people, the government will work with a sense of urgency to collect information, and the relevant ministries and agencies will work together in close cooperation with each local government to do its utmost to manage the crisis.
