Cairo, Aug. 14 (SANA)Three people were killed and 17 others injured after a helium gas cylinder exploded and sparked afireat a shopping mall inCairo, Egyptian authorities said.

Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population said the incident occurred Thursday at Arabella Plaza mall in New Cairo, according to a statement posted on X.

Eight ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and the 17 injured were taken to hospitals for treatment, the ministry said.

The New Cairo Public Prosecution said an initial investigation found that the fire was caused by the explosion of a helium cylinder inside a gift shop.

The incident came two days after 15 people were killed and 32 others injured when a vehicle carrying workers overturned in Ismailia Governorate in northeastern Egypt.
