Erdoğan says ‘Terror-Free Türkiye’ law marks historic step toward stability

Ankara, Aug. 14 (SANA)Turkish PresidentRecep Tayyip Erdoğansaid parliament’s approval of legislation under the “Terror-Free Türkiye” initiative marked a historic step toward strengthening the country’s stability and future.

Speaking at a graduation ceremony for the Gendarmerie and Coast Guard Academy inAnkaraon Thursday, Erdoğan said achieving a “Terror-Free Türkiye and a terror-free region” was of critical importance, according to Anadolu Agency.

He said cooperation between the state and the public could bring a lasting solution to an issue that had affected Türkiye for four decades and caused significant loss of life.

Erdoğan also saidTürkiyewas strengthening its position at a time of growing uncertainty in the international order and continuing to pursue its strategic objectives.

Ankara was seeking to bolster military deterrence through multidimensional diplomacy, strategic partnerships and the development of its domestic defense industry, he said.

The Turkish parliament on Monday approved the “Strengthening National Solidarity and Social Integration” law after about 12 hours of debate. The legislation was drafted as part of the government’s “Terror-Free Türkiye” process.
