President Hichilema: Peaceful election Shows Strength of Zambia’s Democracy
President Hakainde Hichilema says the calm and orderly conduct of the 2026 General Election is the clearest sign yet that Zambia has secured lasting political stability.
Speaking moments after casting his ballot at Kabulonga Boys Secondary School, Mr. Hichilema told reporters that the peaceful atmosphere across the country shows citizens are determined to protect democracy. “Your vote is the foundation of freedom and progress,” he said.
The Head of State stressed that peace is not just a political achievement but an economic driver, pointing to the Kwacha’s appreciation during the electoral period as proof of investor confidence. He said Zambia’s low‑risk profile is now recognised globally.
Mr. Hichilema urged voters to remain united and safeguard the integrity of the process as counting continues.
