As the National Day sun shines, our memories travel back to 467 years ago. To the victory of the valuable jihad of the brave heroes who saved this country from the colonial yoke of the then known as the sea-battle.
Every time Sri Lanka fell into the hands of foreign powers, the fact was that it was caused by the betrayal of selfish people who did not want the good of the country. Today we must resolve not to repeat such bitter experiences.
Let us uphold the sovereignty, freedom and independence of this country and prevent corruption that could bring poverty to the country and its people.
I wish you all the best on this proud National Day and call on you to uphold the slogan of putting the country first and keep the breath and spirit of Dhvehi nationalism in the hearts of every child of this country.

ޤައުމީ ދުވަހުގެ އިރު ފެނުން ތޮޅިލާއިރު، އަޅުގަނޑުމެންގެ ހަނދާންތައް ދަތުރުކުރަނީ މީގެ 467 އަހަރު ކުރީގެ މާޒީއަށް. ކަނޑުގެބާޒުގެ ނަމުން އޭރު މަޝްހޫރުވި ފުރެތިކާލުންގެ އިސްތިޢުމާރީ ކަސްތޮޅުތަކުން ލިބުނު އަނިޔާއިން މި ދީބު މިންޖުކޮށްދެއްވި ހިތްވަރުގަދަ ބަޠަލުންގެ އަގުހުރި ޖިހާދުގެ ކާމިޔާބަށް. ބޭރުގެ ބާރުތަކުގެ މުށުތެރެއަށް ރާއްޖެ ދިޔަ ކޮންމެ ފަހަރަކުމެ ފެންނާން އޮތް ހަގީގަތަކީ، ދިވެހި ޤައުމަށް ހެޔޮ ނޭދޭ އަމިއްލައެދުން ބޮޑު ބަޔެއްގެ ޚިޔާނާތް އެކަމުގެ ސަބަބަކަށް ވީކަން. މިއަދު އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ގަދައަޅަައި ޢަޒުމު އާކުރަންވީ އެފަދަ ހިތި ތަޖުރިބާތަކެއް އިޢާދަވިޔަ ނުދިނުމަށް. މި ޤައުމުގެ ސިޔާދަތާއި މިނިވަންކަމާއި އަމިއްލަވަންތަކަން ނަގަހައްޓައި، ޤައުމާއި ރައްޔިތުންނަށް ނިކަމެތިކަމެއް ލިބިދާނެ ފިތުނަފަސާދަތަކަށް ހުރަސްއަޅާ ބަޔަކަށް އަޅުގަނޑުމެން ވަމާތޯ؟ މި ފަޚުރުވެރި ޤަައުމީ ދުވަހުގެ މުބާރަކްބާދު ދިވެހި އުޚުއްވަތްތެރި ރައްޔިތުންނަށް އަޅުގަނޑު ދަންނަވަނީ، އެންމެ ފުރަތަމަ ޤައުމު އިސްކުރުމުގެ ޝިޢާރު ނަގަހައްޓައި، މި ޤައުމުގެ ކޮންމެ ދަރިއެއްގެ ހިތުގައިވެސް ދިވެހި ޤައުމިއްޔަތުގެ ވިންދާއި ރޫޙު ހިފެހެއްޓުމަށް ގޮވައިލަމުން.
