Presidente Abinader transforma la educación digital a través del ITLA entregando más de 36,000 becas tecnológicas
Santo Domingo.-President Luis Abinader led a transcendental event this Thursday at the National Palace where, through the Technological Institute of the Americas (ITLA), more than 36,000 technological scholarships were awarded, which constitutes a decisive commitment to the talent of young people and their ability to contribute to the comprehensive development of the Dominican Republic.
In his speech, the Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza, expressed that the Government makes a serious, safe, vertical and frontal commitment to prepare our population and industries with the delivery of these scholarships.
The official stated that, with the support of the Dominican State, the strength of Dominican youth is further promoted, “those men and women who are committed to and are part of our future.”
“With the firm leadership of President Luis Abinader, we are walking towards a safe harbor, placing ourselves on the paths of the future to make tomorrow a great opportunity,” said Paliza.
Historical coverage and democratization of knowledge
In this same scenario, the rector of ITLA, Jimmy Rosario Bernard, reported that during this call a total of 40,654 applications were received, of which 36,225 continuing education scholarships were successfully awarded.
Bernard maintained that this figure represents effective attention to 89% of applicants, which marks an unprecedented milestone for the institution.
Specialized training in areas of high labor demand
The 36,225 scholarships awarded are aimed at strategic programs linked to digital transformation, such as:
•Artificial intelligence and data science.
•Cybersecurity and information networks.
•Software development and digital marketing.
Promotion of STEM careers and female leadership
This initiative substantially expands access to STEM disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, in Spanish) and the emerging areas of Industry 4.0. With a strong focus on inclusion, 51.3% of the scholarships were awarded to women, promoting their participation in technological sectors of high strategic value.
Also present were the president of Indotel, Guido Gómez Mazara, and the general director of the National Institute of Professional Technical Training (Infotep), Rafael Santos Badía.
