HE The President of the Republic, José Antonio Kast, heads a Security Committee in Talca this Thursday, within the framework of the process of transferring highly dangerous inmates to the La Laguna penitentiary facility. The meeting has the participation of the Minister of the Interior-Segegob, Claudio Alvarado; the Minister of Public Security, Martín Arrau; and the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Fernando Rabat. The session addresses the security measures associated with the process of transferring inmates, as well as the coordination between the different institutions involved and the actions aimed at strengthening the security of the Gendarmerie officials, the prison population and the residents of the penitentiary area. The transfer, which began this Thursday morning, will culminate during the next week with the full capacity of the La Laguna prison, inaugurated in 2025. The facility will have a system of segmentation and segregation of the prison population, with differentiated regimes for maximum and high security inmates. In this way, the Security Committee addresses the challenges linked to strengthening the penitentiary system and the necessary measures to guarantee security conditions both inside the facilities and in the communities that are around them.
