Mivhed salda compromiso pendiente desde 2015 y fortalece participación de RD en organismo regional de vivienda
Santo Domingo.–The Ministry of Housing, Habitat and Buildings (Mivhed), headed by Minister Víctor “Ito” Bisonó, regularized the pending commitments of the Dominican Republic to the Central American Council of Housing and Human Settlements (CCVAH), corresponding to quotas accumulated since 2015, reaffirming the Dominican Government's policy of honoring its commitments and strengthening the country's participation in regional cooperation organizations.
Through Mivhed, the Government made a payment of USD 151,701.91, corresponding to the installments from the years 2015 to 2025 and a payment corresponding to 2026.
Participation takes on special relevance in the face of challenges that transcend borders and that force the countries of the region to increasingly strengthen planning, the resilience of cities and the security of their infrastructure in the face of natural phenomena and other risks.
The Secretariat of Central American Social Integration (Sisca) valued the regularization carried out by the country and highlighted that this action demonstrates the commitment of the Dominican Republic to the social integration of the SICA region.
“We are honoring a commitment that the country has had pending for more than a decade, but, above all, strengthening our participation in a space from which we can share experiences, access technical assistance and build solutions together with other countries that face similar challenges in terms of housing, habitat and urban development,” highlighted Minister Bisonó.
Regional cooperation to address common challenges
The Dominican Republic is part of the Central American Integration System (SICA) and participates, through Mivhed, in the CCVAH as the national governing body in housing matters.
This organization promotes regional cooperation, the strengthening of institutional capacities, the exchange of good practices and the formulation of joint initiatives related to coexistence, human settlements and urban development.
"We live in a region exposed to common risks. Sharing knowledge, experiences and capabilities allows us to learn from each other and be better prepared. The Dominican Republic has a lot to contribute, but also a lot to take advantage of that regional cooperation," added Bisonó.
The sectoral contribution of the member countries allows, among other aspects, to sustain regional technical assistance, strengthen the Sisca Housing Unit and follow up on the agreements adopted by the ministers and authorities responsible for the sector.
With the regularization of these commitments, Mivhed seeks to strengthen the active presence of the Dominican Republic in these regional spaces and expand opportunities for cooperation that can translate into better public housing, habitat and urban development policies for the country.

Cooperación regional para enfrentar desafíos comunes La República Dominicana forma parte delSistema de la Integración Centroamericana(SICA) y participa, a través delMivhed, en elCCVAHcomo órgano rector nacional en materia de vivienda. Este organismo promueve lacooperación regional, el fortalecimiento decapacidades institucionales,el intercambio de buenas prácticas y la formulación deiniciativas conjuntasrelacionadas convivienda, asentamientos humanos y desarrollo urbano. “Vivimos en una región expuesta a riesgos comunes. Compartir conocimientos, experiencias y capacidades nos permite aprender unos de otros y estar mejor preparados. República Dominicana tiene mucho que aportar, pero también mucho que aprovechar de esa cooperación regional”,agregó Bisonó. La contribución sectorial de los países miembros permite, entre otros aspectos, sostener laasistencia técnica regional, fortalecer laUnidad de Vivienda de la Siscay dar seguimiento a los acuerdos adoptados por los ministros y autoridades responsables del sector. Con la regularización de estos compromisos, elMivhedprocura fortalecer lapresencia activa de República Dominicanaen estos espacios regionales y ampliar lasoportunidades de cooperaciónque puedan traducirse en mejores políticas públicas de vivienda, hábitat y desarrollo urbano para el país.
