Today, I attended the Peace Memorial Ceremony for the Victims of the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Victims and offered my sincere condolences to the spirits of the many people who lost their lives in the dropping of the atomic bomb. 81 years since the atomic bombing. The beautiful reconstruction of the city of Nagasaki, which was reduced to scorched earth, makes me feel strongly about the efforts made by all the citizens and the preciousness of peace.

Under the pledge to "make Nagasaki the last atomic bombing site," we will promote realistic and practical efforts toward the realization of a "world free of nuclear weapons," as the mission of the "only country to have suffered atomic bombings in war."

In addition, we will promote ``comprehensive support measures'' covering health, medical care, and welfare for atomic bomb survivors, and in particular, we will conduct examinations for ``certification of atomic bomb diseases'' as quickly as possible.

In my speech, I mentioned that there is an atomic bombed tree in this town that survived that day 81 years ago. The image of the atomic bombed trees is also similar to the image of the citizens of Nagasaki, who have successfully recovered from the ruins and built the city into what it is today as an ``international cultural city.''

After the ceremony, we toured the Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Museum, listened to requests from representatives of hibakusha organizations, and visited Megumi no Oka Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Home.

At the Megumi-no-oka Nagasaki Atomic Bomb Home, the elderly people smiled and encouraged me, and I received a lot of energy. We wish you all good health.
