Julia Longbottom, British Ambassador to Japan, is leaving her post and visited the Prime Minister's Office today.
Prime Minister Burnham and others from the UK responded to the Kumamoto earthquake. I would like to express my gratitude once again for the warm messages of sympathy I received.
I have known Julia for a long time. During his tenure as Minister of State for Economic Security, he was instrumental in the creation of the Economic Security Security Clearance system.
Thanks in part to Julia's efforts as Ambassador to Japan for over five years, the relationship between Japan and the UK, which are ``strengthened global strategic partners,'' has become closer and stronger than ever before.
This year, in particular, he helped me during former Prime Minister Starmer's visit to Japan in January and my own visit to the UK in June.
