Along with all the citizens of Israel, my wife and I mourn the death of Major (res.) Harel Birnstock and Sergeant (res.) Tamir Vakanin, who were killed in battle in southern Lebanon.

Harel and Tamir were among the best of our sons, brave warriors who signed up for reserve service and fought valiantly to protect the residents of the north and the State of Israel.

We send our condolences from the bottom of our hearts to the families who lost their dearest of all, and wish a full recovery to our soldiers who were injured in the same incident.

May the memory of our heroes be blessed and enshrined in the heart of the nation.
