Encuentro Mulino- Hegseth: Estados Unidos califica a Panamá como un importante aliado
Within the framework of the meeting of the Coalition of the Americas against Cartels, the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, and the Secretary of War of the United States, Pete Hegseth, held a bilateral meeting in which they highlighted the close cooperation between both nations, mainly in matters of regional security and the fight against drug trafficking.
During the meeting, Hegseth highlighted the role that Panama has played in strategies to strengthen the fight against cartels and address irregular situations, such as illegal migration in the Latin American region.
For the United States, Panama is an “important ally” and partner with which it shares common objectives and interests, which have contributed to the success of initiatives such as the Coalition of the Americas against Cartels, stated the Secretary of War.
For his part, President Mulino reviewed the regional security initiatives supported by Panama together with Colombia and other countries in the area.
“I am positive about all this cooperation and I appreciate the collaboration with the different groups in the United States,” Mulino said, making it clear that “the principle of sovereignty of each nation has always been respected.”
Finally, Hegseth pointed out that the United States seeks to strengthen and expand its relationship with Panama, which it considers an important country that transcends the financial sphere.

Por su parte, el presidente Mulino hizo un repaso de las iniciativas de seguridad regional apoyadas por Panamá junto a Colombia y otros países del área. “Estoy positivo ante toda esta cooperación y aprecio la colaboración con los diferentes grupos de Estados Unidos”, dijo Mulino dejando claro que siempre "se ha respetado el principio de soberanía de cada nación”. Para finalizar, Hegseth señaló que Estados Unidos busca fortalecer y ampliar su relación con Panamá, al que considera un país importante que trasciende el ámbito financiero.
