Tashkent, Aug. 13 (SANA)Syrian weightlifter Mohammed al-Kateb set three national records as he finished seventh in the 85-kg category atthe Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championshipsin Tashkent, Uzbekistan.Al-Kateb lifted 152 kg in the snatch and 181 kg in the clean and jerk, setting Syrian records in both disciplines. His combined total of 333 kg established a third national record.The result marked a strong performance forthe Syrian national teamamid competition from some of Asia’s leading young weightlifters.Syria’s Ali Munther Mohammad is scheduled to compete in the +110-kg category on Friday, with the Syrian team hoping to add a medal to its campaign.Earlier in the championships, Syria’s Zeina Ali finished fifth in the girls’ 57-kg category after lifting 64 kg in the snatch and 77 kg in the clean and jerk.
