Here we witnessed a nation that took every responsibility seriously, that responded to every challenge with determination and with the faith placed in it. The Dominican Republic demonstrated that its greatness is not measured solely by what it promises, but by the The quality with which it fulfills its promises. Thank you very much. We also take with us the enthusiasm of having completed this, witnessing a new generation ready to conquer the future. We saw vibrant stands, families celebrating, young people discovering that they too can one day represent their country. That energy that was born in every arena does not fade with this closing ceremony. It will continue to grow in the clubs, in the schools, in every community where sport transforms lives. Today, the flag of sport is here. The Dominican Republic undertook much more than organizing a competition. It made a commitment to the athletes, to those delegations that are here, and it delivered. It delivered by preparing worthy venues for our champions. We have received all kinds of praise for this venue. Here, I thank the government for its efforts with Nibet, the Malecón Deportivo, and the team headed by Kelvin Cruz. They delivered by receiving each delegation with open arms, with the joy of their people, with that hospitality that distinguishes the nation. But equally, this venue, La Arena [shout] Van Reservas, Virgilio Travieso Soto. Here, I want to thank for many reasons the The Reserve Bank of the Dominican Republic, and Dr. Leonardo Aguilera in particular, provided us with three reasons that enabled a truly exceptional promotional campaign. They facilitated our efforts and, through the bank, built this arena for us, honoring the memory of Virgilio Travieso Soto, one of my country's greats. Thank you for rescuing the Reserve Bank, the stage where the great stories of Dominican basketball are written. What do these games create? I want to highlight the figure of Pablo Reyes, because we've been here since '74, and this was cared for by one of our own, a man with a Dominican heart. Pablo Reyes, known as Don Tomás, the one who knew where everything was, and today this arena is being delivered, just as Chapea did with the Olympic Stadium under the leadership of Wichi García Saleta. That is the power of sports: to unite us all. In that spirit, I want to express my gratitude and acknowledge— and you will see the recognition later— the organizing committee headed by José Patricio Monegro. Thank you very much. [music] And to recognize that we are Central America and the Caribbean, having these delegations from Central America and the Caribbean all pushing together so that we could have these games. But how can I give a speech in this environment? How can I speak amidst your joy? How can I speak feeling your support? I cannot give a speech because every day we demonstrated that the Dominican Republic, that Dominicans, are capable of doing great things when we unite and push in the same direction. But I cannot give a speech when we have demonstrated that Central America and the Caribbean is a huge, powerful region. 835 million people were reached in digital media through these Central American and Caribbean Games. But certainly something formal must be said. Certainly, something institutional needs to be said. The most formal thing I can say is that President Luis Abinader became an activist for these games from the very beginning, and that we, the organizing committee, became like family. A round of applause for this organizing committee and for demonstrating that Central America and the Caribbean is a region of brothers. Some speak Spanish, others speak English, some speak French, but we all speak the universal language. Love, [ovation] Carolina, Kelvin are two representatives of government agencies and how well they did on this organizing committee. But the most important thing was that all the political bodies, led by President Luis Abinader, respected something fundamental about this: that this was a celebration for each and every Dominican, and we enjoyed it. My dad's super excited obviously is from here. The whole family has been here since [music] they also very excited to proud to represent. For me it is very very special to come to these [music] games in Santo Domingo because the biggest reason is that my husband participated here in the first games in 1974 [music] in this same pool. I have been a volunteer for many years now, I started volunteering in 2008. [music] I always try to be involved in swimming, I'm a swimming coach. However, this time I wanted to ask my daughter to come with me to volunteer [music] since my husband passed away, but we came in his honor, to be here where he participated. My dad, uh, Domingo Lorenzo Conde, went to two Olympic Games, Mexico and Munich, in 1968 and 1972. When he came back from the 1972 Olympic Games, he taught me how to shoot. Uh, uh, that's where I started shooting back in '72. Then I went to a world championship in 1983 in Venezuela, and then came the Central American Games, and I was already very well prepared. My dad brought me to Santiago to participate in those games. For me, the Central American Games have a big impact, as this is my sixth edition. My first six editions were with the Dominican Republic. Since then I changed countries to represent my grandmother's colors for Puerto Rico and my first edition was in 2018 where we didn't win any medals, but I took away the taste of commitment for my next edition which were in San Salvador where I had three Central American medals, gold, silver and bronze. [music] [music] I brought a very special gift from Mexico for the people I'm meeting, which is a [music] Mexican hummingbird, which for us means that our loved ones come to us and return to us in the form of a hummingbird. So I brought a lot of hummingbirds and I'm filling Santo Domingo with hummingbirds because 40 [music] years later and at almost 60 years old I achieved two Central American medals and gave my country [music] two more medals and honor and glory. I mean, I'm very happy. For me, it's wonderful to close the chapter on a competitive life, where else could it be? If it didn't all start, it was Dominican. And I feel very proud to be here closing what is a cycle, a great journey, as a few days ago, from this land a flame was rekindled in the heart of our entire region. Doing what was possible required commitment, leadership, and the vision to understand that investing in sports is also investing in youth, development, and the future of a nation. Under its support, the Dominican Republic renovated its facilities, strengthened its organizational capacity, and opened its doors to proudly welcome thousands of athletes from Central America and the Caribbean. And that is a victory that does not appear on any medal table, but that we know how to recognize. And these games also leave an important legacy for the Dominican Republic. They leave behind facilities, experience, and a greater capacity to organize major sporting events. And I also want to believe that they leave behind something even more important: thousands of children and young people who have watched their idols compete and who will return home thinking, "I can be there someday too." Every champion begins as a child who dares to dream, and our responsibility is to help those dreams find opportunities.
