President Dr Patrick Herminie today attended the official opening of the housing redevelopment project at Corgat Estate, Mont Fleuri, in the presence of Vice President Mr Sebastien Pillay, who is also Minister for Land, Housing and Infrastructure.

The project comprises16 affordable three-bedroom housing units, alongside external works and supporting infrastructure aimed at improving the wider living environment at Corgat Estate. Government invested SCR 15.6 million in the project, comprising SCR 12.05 million for construction of the apartment block and SCR 3.55 million for external works and supporting infrastructure.

In his address, the Member of the National Assembly for Mont Fleuri, Hon. Michel Roucou, described the completion of the project as an important milestone for Corgat Estate. He congratulated all the administration, stakeholders and all those involved in ensuring the successful completion of the project, while thanking the Government for its continued work to improve housing and living conditions for Seychellois families.

Vice President Pillay emphasised that the redevelopment goes beyond the provision of new homes, forming part of a broader effort to improve the quality of life within Corgat Estate through better infrastructure and an enhanced community environment.

He reiterated the Government's commitment to ensuring that Seychellois families can live in dignity.

“One commitment that the President made is that he wants to see every Seychellois living in dignity.”

Vice President Pillay congratulated the new homeowners on reaching this important milestone and commended them for their patience throughout the redevelopment process. He wished them every success as they begin a new chapter in their homes and with their families.

Speaking on behalf of the new homeowners, one of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the Government and all those who contributed to the redevelopment, describing the new homes as places where families could build greater comfort, security and stability.

She said the new homeowners were committed to caring of their homes and to living together in peace and harmony. She also encouraged other families awaiting improvements to their housing circumstances to remain patient and hopeful.

The redevelopment project began in February 2025 and was completed in August 2026. The Corgat Estate redevelopment project commenced in February 2025 and was completed in August 2026, reflecting continuity in the implementation of a public housing project.

Also attending the ceremony were Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Azarel Enersta Principal Minister Wallace Cosgrow, Ministers, tenants, contractors and invited guests.
