Egypt, UAE call for de-escalation and renewed regional diplomacy

Cairo, Aug. 13 (SANA)Egyptian Foreign MinisterBadr Abdelattyand UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign MinisterAbdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyancalled for intensified efforts to de-escalate regional tensions, prevent the conflict from spreading, and return to compliance with a memorandum of understanding between the United States andIran, Egypt’s Foreign Ministry said Thursday.In a statement published on its website, the ministry said the two ministers stressed during a telephone call the importance of respecting international law and safeguarding the security, safety and freedom of international navigation.Regarding developments inPalestine, the ministers stressed the importance of completing the commitments under the first phase of U.S. PresidentDonald Trump‘s Gaza peace plan, in accordance with the announced road map, to help consolidate stability and create conditions for moving to subsequent phases.They reiterated the need to end Israeli violations in the West Bank and rejected any steps that could undermine prospects for peace and a two-state solution. They also stressed the importance of preserving the unity of the Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.The two sides also discussed developments in Sudan and regional and international efforts to address the crisis there. They stressed the importance of continuing coordination and consultations to support Sudan’s security and stability and alleviate the humanitarian suffering of the Sudanese people
