SNS y CMD mantienen diálogo y trabajo conjunto para fortalecimiento prestación de servicios de salud
SantoDomingo.–The executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Dr. Julio Landrón, held a working meeting with representatives of the Dominican Medical College (CMD), in which issues related to compliance with the medical work day, legal medical internship, hospital safety and distribution of specialists in the establishments of the Public Health Network were addressed.
The head of the SNS indicated that the meeting took place in an atmosphere of dialogue and collaboration, as part of the joint work that both institutions maintain to identify needs, address specific situations and strengthen the provision of health services throughout the national territory.
“It was a harmonious meeting, like all those that have been held between the Medical College and the National Health Service, where we have been working together on all the issues that we have addressed regarding schedules,” said the executive director of the SNS.
During the meeting, the importance of compliance with the established schedule for doctors, four hours a day and 20 hours a week, throughout the national geography, was reiterated.
Likewise, compliance with the regulations corresponding to the legal medical internship was addressed, with emphasis on guaranteeing that medical interns carry out their functions under adequate working conditions and in establishments that have the necessary conditions for their performance.
The head of the SNS explained that the institution will continue working on the preparation and improvement of the spaces for interns, as well as on an adequate distribution of these professionals in the different services, including emergency areas.
In this sense, he specified that each First Level Care Center has an assistant doctor responsible for the performance of the activities carried out in these establishments, in line with the strengthening of Primary Care promoted by the SNS.
More than 4,000 members strengthen hospital security
Safety in health facilities was another of the central points discussed during the meeting. Dr. Landrón reported that during the first six months of his management in charge of the SNS, the number of hospital security members designated to strengthen the protection of patients, family members and collaborators of the Public Network rose to more than 4,000, this being a historic figure.
As part of the agreements, the SNS and the Medical College will work together to define a prioritized area to implement a pilot security plan, through the application of protocols that allow evaluating results and, based on the experiences obtained, expand the measures to other establishments nationwide.
They agree to exhaust dialogue before calling for strikes
During the meeting, it was also agreed to keep communication channels open and exhaust dialogue and verification mechanisms before calling for service shutdowns in the different regions or provinces.
SNS will evaluate specialist needs and reinforce staff
Another aspect addressed was the availability of specialist doctors in the different establishments of the Public Network. Landrón explained that the SNS carries out surveys of personnel needs and verifies payrolls to identify possible weaknesses in the coverage of specialists.
When professionals are detected who are not attending the centers where they were designated, their incorporation will be requested to guarantee the provision of services. In establishments where there is a proven need for personnel, the SNS will evaluate the corresponding designations, in accordance with budget availability.
The SNS and the Medical College thus reaffirmed their willingness to maintain a permanent work agenda, aimed at strengthening the conditions for professional practice, improving security in health centers, guaranteeing the availability of medical personnel and ensuring continuous, timely, dignified and humanized health services to the population.

El titular del SNS explicó que la institución continuará trabajando en lapreparación y mejora de los espaciosdestinados a los pasantes, así como en una distribución adecuada de estos profesionales en los diferentes servicios, incluyendo las áreas de emergencia. En ese sentido, precisó que cadaCentro de Primer Nivel de Atencióncuenta con un médico asistente responsable del desempeño de las actividades que se desarrollan en estos establecimientos, en consonancia con el fortalecimiento de la Atención Primaria impulsado por el SNS. Más de 4,000 miembros fortalecen la seguridad hospitalaria La seguridad en los establecimientos de salud fue otro de los puntos centrales tratados durante la reunión. El doctor Landrón informó que durante los primeros seis meses de su gestión frente al SNS se elevó amás de 4,000la cantidad de miembros deseguridad hospitalariadesignados para fortalecer laprotección de pacientes, familiares y colaboradoresde la Red Pública, siendo esta una cifra histórica. Como parte de los acuerdos, el SNS y el Colegio Médicotrabajarán en conjuntoen la definición de un área priorizada para implementar unplan piloto de seguridad, mediante la aplicación de protocolos que permitan evaluar resultados y, a partir de las experiencias obtenidas, ampliar las medidas a otros establecimientos a nivel nacional. Acuerdan agotar el diálogo antes de llamados a paralizaciones Durante el encuentro también se acordó mantener loscanales de comunicación abiertosy agotar los mecanismos de diálogo y verificación antes de realizar llamados a paralizaciones de servicios en las diferentes regiones o provincias. SNS evaluará necesidades de especialistas y reforzará personal Otro de los aspectos abordados fue la disponibilidad de médicos especialistas en los diferentes establecimientos de la Red Pública. Landrón explicó que el SNS realiza levantamientos de las necesidades de personal y verifica las nóminas para identificarposibles debilidadesen la cobertura de especialistas. Cuando se detecten profesionales que no estén asistiendo a los centros donde fueron designados, se procederá a solicitar su incorporación paragarantizar la prestación de los servicios. En los establecimientos donde exista una necesidad comprobada de personal, el SNS evaluará las designaciones correspondientes,de acuerdo con la disponibilidad presupuestaria. El SNS y el Colegio Médico reafirmaron así su disposición de mantener unaagenda de trabajo permanente,orientada a fortalecer las condiciones para el ejercicio profesional, mejorar la seguridad en los centros sanitarios, garantizar la disponibilidad del personal médico y asegurar a la población servicios de saludcontinuos, oportunos, dignos y humanizados.
