Holding a joint press conference with Palestinian President Abbas, President Erdoğan said: “The Gazan people have clearly demonstrated that they are in favor of peace and have a strong will to achieve this. The conditions necessary to launch Gaza’s reconstruction and ensure its security must be created without delay.”

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and President Mahmoud Abbas of Palestine held a joint press conference following their meeting at the Presidential Complex.

“WE AS TÜRKİYE ARE ADVANCING THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE BASED ON THE TWO-STATE SOLUTION”

“In consultation with our Palestinian brothers and sisters, we as Türkiye are advancing the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution. The genocidal Netanyahu government continues its lawless actions in the West Bank and al-Quds in front of the eyes of the whole world. Occupation, forced migration and usurpation policies increasingly continue,” President Erdoğan said.

“I would like to share some numbers here: According to UN data, in 2026 alone, 3,800 Palestinians were displaced while nearly 100 of our Palestinian brothers and sisters were murdered in settlement terror, demolition, and evacuations. This situation is the product of a systematic occupation and an attrition policy aimed at suffocating the Palestinian administration on its own soil. It is impossible to overlook the fact that the existence of the sovereign Palestinian state is being undermined. Yet, despite all the attempts at subjugation and deportation, the Palestinian people remain strong and steadfast,” President Erdoğan stated. “In the face of this picture, we discussed with Mr. Abbas what can be done. We had a detailed review of the current situation in the occupied Palestinian lands as well as our bilateral relations.”

“WE OPPOSE THE PROVOCATIONS THAT ARE AIMED AT CHANGING THE STATUS OF THE AL-AQSA MOSQUE”

President Erdoğan stressed: “We hope that the decision to hold legislative and presidential elections in Palestine after a long while to be auspicious. I hope that the elections will help advance the peace process among our Palestinian brothers and sisters, and will contribute to the strengthening of the Palestinian people’s unity and solidarity.”

President Erdoğan noted: “During today’s meeting, we reiterated our solidarity in the face of attacks, violations and provocations against the holy sites in Palestinian lands, particularly the al-Aqsa Mosque, and the al-Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil. We unequivocally oppose the provocations that are aimed at changing the status of the al-Aqsa Mosque, our first kiblah, and other sanctuaries.”

“WE WILL ENDEAVOR WITH DETERMINATION FOR THE FORMATION OF AN INDEPENDENT PALESTINIAN STATE”

President Erdoğan said: “The Netanyahu government’s objective is to capitalize on the chaos and new conflicts in the region in a bid to remove Palestine from humanity’s shared agenda. No matter what they do, they will not succeed in this. The harder they work to destroy, the stronger the Palestinian cause will grow in hearts. We as Türkiye will continue to strongly promote the Palestinian cause on every platform. We will endeavor with determination for the formation of an independent, sovereign and geographically integral Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders, with East al-Quds as its capital.”

President Erdoğan added: “In Gaza, despite all the agreements and international efforts, we are faced with an Israeli administration that is committed to deadlock. Despite the constructive stance of our Palestinian brothers and sisters, the current Israeli administration continues its uncompromising and aggressive attitude. The ongoing process, as I have just mentioned, reveals who sides with the continuation of conflicts and who sides with peace.  The Gazan people have clearly demonstrated that they are in favor of peace and have a strong will to achieve this.
