Presidential Office spokesperson Guo Yahui said that the resignation of Chen Yishen, director of the National History Museum, has been approved. The president specially appointed Ms. Chen Cuilian as the director of the National History Museum today (10th), effective from September 14.
Spokesperson Kuo explained that Ms. Chen Cuilian is currently a distinguished professor in the Department of History at National Taiwan University. In her early years, she worked for the "Independence Evening News", "China Times" and other media, and accumulated rich experience in observing the development of Taiwan's democratic constitutional government. She later transferred to a teaching position and served at Tamkang University, National Chengchi University and National Taiwan University, and has been engaged in the teaching and research of Taiwan's political history for a long time.
Spokesperson Guo further said that while Professor Chen is engaged in academic work, he is also actively involved in work related to transitional justice. He has served as an advisory committee member of the National History Museum, a member of the advisory committee of the National Human Rights Museum of the Ministry of Culture, and a member of the management committee of the Fund for Promoting Transformational Justice. He has provided professional advice and is an outstanding scholar with both profound academic knowledge and rich practical experience.
Spokesperson Kuo added that Professor Chen Cuilian is still teaching at National Taiwan University and will take up the post after completing the secondment process. I believe that after Professor Chen takes over as the director of the National History Museum, he will be able to display his talents and lead the National History Museum to fulfill its functions as an institution and inject new energy into the compilation, research and compilation of Taiwanese historical materials.
