總統會晤聖文森國總理傅萊德 盼兩國持續深化各領域合作 共同增進人民福祉

After welcoming the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines Godwin Friday and his wife Godwin Friday with military salutes this afternoon (11th), President Lai Chengde and Vice President Xiao Meiqin held a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister Godwin Friday at the Presidential Palace. They look forward to continuing to deepen cooperation in various fields and enhance people's well-being through diversified plans. Together, they can inject new momentum into the relationship between the two countries and open a new chapter of cooperation.

In his speech, the President once again thanked Prime Minister Fried for choosing to come to Taiwan for his first cross-continental visit since taking office, demonstrating to the international community the solid and friendly friendship between the two countries. He also thanked Prime Minister Fred and the government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines for their firm support of Taiwan's international participation. At the World Health Assembly (WHA) in May this year, Prime Minister Friedman personally sent a letter to the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO) to support Taiwan's participation in the WHA. Minister of Health Daniel Cummings also publicly spoke up for Taiwan at the WHA plenary meeting. Taiwan is very grateful for this deep friendship.

The President pointed out that as we stand on the milestone of the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, we believe that with the support of Prime Minister Friedrich, Taiwan and St. Vincent will not only continue to support each other internationally, but also continue to create new results in various cooperation projects between the two countries, creating better benefits for the two peoples in the future. For example, the "Ten-billion Youth Overseas Dream Fund Project" launched by Taiwan last year and the "Youth from Diplomatic Countries Come to Taiwan to Realize their Dreams Project" have begun to attract young people from the two countries to conduct practical exchanges on smart agriculture and sustainable tourism.

The President also said that he was very pleased to learn that Prime Minister Fried spoke highly of Taiwan's smart agriculture plan promoted in Orange Mountain. Whether it is fresh fruits and vegetables produced in plant factories or high-quality agricultural products cultivated by young farmers, they are gradually gaining favor from local restaurants and tourism operators. This not only creates more local business opportunities, but also encourages more young people to invest in agricultural development.

The President emphasized that Taiwan will continue to deepen cooperation with St. Vincent in various fields in the future, and hopes to continue to enhance the well-being of the people of the two countries through diversified plans. At the same time, we hope that more young people from Taiwan will come to St. Vincent to study and exchange, and we also welcome more young people from St. Vincent to come to Taiwan, so that young generations can jointly expand their horizons, and the deep friendship between the two countries can continue to be passed down.

The president said that the deepening of the friendship is accumulated step by step, and he looks forward to working together to inject new momentum into the relationship between the two countries and create a new chapter of cooperation.

In his speech, Prime Minister Fried said that he was honored to meet with President Lai in the first year of the new government's administration and to have a dialogue on the long-standing friendly relations, cooperation history and future direction of joint efforts between the two countries. He pointed out that Taiwan and Saint Petersburg have developed a profound friendship since they decided to work together in 1981. Over the past 45 years, Taiwan's importance in this relationship has been fully demonstrated. On behalf of the Holy See government and people, he would like to thank Taiwan for its generous support over the years.

Prime Minister Fried said that no country can develop alone. The relationships established between countries, the exchange of knowledge, and the ability to transform cooperation into concrete results are all very important. This is how the Holy Kingdom views its relationship with Taiwan; the two countries have laid a solid foundation for cooperation and look forward to making bilateral relations more responsive to current challenges and opportunities.

Prime Minister Fried said that during this trip, he also hoped to look forward to the future together and believed that the relationship between Taiwan and St. Petersburg is closer than ever before. He also reiterated the position of the Holy Kingdom government that the Holy Kingdom highly values its long-lasting friendship with Taiwan and is ready to further deepen bilateral relations and elevate their friendship to a partnership. It is hoped that both sides will remove obstacles, expand economic and trade relations, and further understand how the two countries can achieve mutual benefit and common prosperity.

Prime Minister Fried went on to say that the governments of Taiwan and Saint Petersburg are currently negotiating an economic cooperation agreement to promote bilateral trade and continue to promote bilateral affairs, such as driver's license reciprocity and other arrangements. Although the two countries are far apart, they share the vision of democracy and are equally committed to improving people's lives and livelihoods. They look forward to finding practical and feasible ways to enhance mutual interaction and understanding. They also look forward to more exchanges between young people, professionals, businesses and institutions of the two countries to continue to establish long-term connections.
