Prime Minister Mr. Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi hosts the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee to discuss financial and economic policies •••••••••• Today, Monday, the Prime Minister, Mr. Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi, hosted the Chairman and members of the Parliamentary Finance Committee, in the presence of the Minister of Finance and the Governor of the Central Bank of Iraq, to discuss financial and economic plans and policies, and coordination between the executive and legislative authorities regarding priority files. The Prime Minister stressed the importance of the role of the House of Representatives and the Finance Committee in supporting the work of the government and its reform program, pointing to the heavy legacy it inherited of files and challenges, which it is working to address according to a clear vision, and that it has begun, for the first time, preparing for the program and performance budget, which represents a road map for Iraq’s economic future, to link government spending to goals and results and improve the efficiency of use of public money. His Excellency stressed that the electricity file will receive exceptional attention, calling on ladies and gentlemen of parliament to exercise their oversight role in supporting the government’s efforts to combat corruption and dry up its sources, stressing that there are no red lines in pursuing the corrupt. Mr. Al-Zaidi explained that the government is working on preparing a strategy for state building, which consists of building a new economic Iraq, corruption-free departments, and constitutional security institutions. He pointed out that there is a great desire and demand from major international companies to invest in Iraq, and the willingness of international financial institutions to support it economically, stressing the work to provide the appropriate environment to attract investments and stimulate various economic sectors. The Prime Minister directed the preparation of a schedule for hosting and periodic meetings with parliamentary committees, in a way that enhances coordination and institutional communication between the government and the House of Representatives. For his part, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Finance Committee affirmed absolute support for the government, and the members of the committee put forward a number of proposals to legislate the necessary laws to activate non-oil economic activities, and support the government’s efforts in economic reform and combating corruption, as well as emphasizing the importance of continuing to implement oil projects, paying attention to the investment environment and attracting reputable international companies, in a way that contributes to moving the wheel of development, encouraging industry, and creating job opportunities. ••••• Media Office of the Prime Minister 10-August-2026
