Bishkek/Amman, Aug. 12 (SANA)Syrian clubsHoms Al-FidaaandAhli Aleppoadvanced to theAFC Challenge Leaguegroup stage on Tuesday after coming through their respective preliminary-round matches in Kyrgyzstan and Jordan.Homs Al-Fidaa edged Kyrgyzstan’s Dordoi 8-7 in a penalty shootout after the teams were locked at 1-1 following extra time.Khattab Mashlab put Homs Al-Fidaa ahead in the 10th minute before Yassin Hamed equalized for Dordoi five minutes from the end of regulation time. Neither side broke the deadlock in extra time, sending the tie to penalties, where the Syrian club prevailed.Ahli Aleppo later joined Homs Al-Fidaa in the group stage after beating Bangladesh Police 1-0 in Amman.Jordan Rodrigues scored the decisive goal in the 43rd minute, securing Ahli Aleppo’s place in the next phase of the continental competition.The results give Syria two representatives in the group stage of the AFC Challenge League.
