Dollar steady ahead of U.S. inflation data

Washington, Aug. 12 (SANA)TheU.S. dollarwas little changed on Tuesday as investors awaited July consumer price data that could offer fresh clues on the Federal Reserve’s near-term monetary policy outlook.The dollar index, which measures the U.S. currency against a basket of major currencies including the euro and yen, edged up 0.06% to 99.83, Reuters reported.The euro slipped 0.02% to $1.154, while the Japanese yen was nearly flat at 159.28 per dollar. The Australian dollar gained 0.06% to $0.7056.Investors are closely watching Wednesday’s U.S. consumer price figures for indications of inflationary pressures and their potential impact on the Fed’s next policy moves.Oil prices, meanwhile, climbed to a one-week high on Tuesday as concerns over supply disruptions in the Middle East and Russia outweighed signs of progress in talks between Oman and Iran over shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
