Syria Civil Defense responds to 24 road accidents, 134 fires

Damascus, Aug. 12 (SANA)Twenty-nine people were injured in 24 road accidents across different parts of Syria over the past 24 hours, theSyrian Civil Defense, affiliated with theMinistry of Emergency and Disaster Management, said Wednesday on its Telegram channel.

Civil Defense teams provided first aid to the injured before transferring them to hospitals for further treatment. The teams cleared the aftermath of the accidents and secured the sites.

The Civil Defense urged motorists to reduce speed, check the technical condition of their vehicles, including brakes and windshield wipers, and avoid distractions while driving, such as using mobile phones.

Teams responded to 134 fires during the same period, including five involving fields and agricultural crops and 129 others involving homes, commercial premises, grass, trees, garbage and electrical wires.

Thefireswere extinguished and the sites cooled, with no injuries reported. Damage was limited to property, according to the Civil Defense.

The Civil Defense urged residents not to light fires in forests or agricultural fields and not to throw cigarette butts or glass containers along roads, particularly near crops and wooded areas.

It urged residents not to burn dry grass around homes or along roadsides and called for it to be removed safely instead.

Two days earlier, Civil Defense teams responded to 23road accidentsacross different parts of Syria that injured 30 people, as well as 127 fires that caused only property damage.
