President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inspected the progress of construction of the new Government-funded building of Al-Madhrasatul Arabiyyathul Islaamiyya (Arabiyya School).

The construction of the new school building was officially contracted to Rasheed Carpentry and Construction (RCC) by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development on 12 November 2024.

Upon arrival at the site, the President was received by Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development Dr Ismail Shafeeu and Managing Director of RCC Ibrahim Rasheed. During the visit, the President met with students of Arabiyya School and several higher education students, who shared their perspectives and aspirations with him. The President assured them of the Government’s full support in addressing their concerns and emphasised the high priority the Administration places on advancing education.

Construction of the new building is scheduled for completion by 31 December 2026, with academic activities set to commence in 2027. The eight-storey facility will feature modern classrooms, state-of-the-art educational resources and modern amenities.

The development of the spacious and modern facility on a prime plot of land in Malé fulfils a key presidential pledge to revitalise Arabiyya School and transform it into a premier centre for Arabic-medium education. The President remains committed to ensuring that the project is completed to the highest standards and on schedule, enabling the school to transition to its new premises.
