During the airline’s press conference, it was announced that the inaugural Etihad Airways flight to Tashkent was completely booked, reflecting strong demand for the new route. This route marks the airline’s first regular service to Uzbekistan and signifies a key step in its expansion across Central Asia. Via Abu Dhabi International Airport, travelers from Tashkent will have easy access to numerous destinations in the Persian Gulf, Europe, the Levant, and North America. Consequently, this new route enhances connections between Central Asia and major global hubs of commerce, culture, and industry.
The flight launch also supports the recently finalized codeshare agreement between Etihad Airways and Uzbekistan Airways. Through this partnership, passengers can extend their journey from Tashkent to eight additional Uzbek cities: Andijan, Bukhara, Fergana, Namangan, Nukus, Samarkand, Termez, and Urgench. They can also access certain international destinations within the Uzbekistan Airways network.
The new air service opens more opportunities to develop tourism. For residents of Uzbekistan, direct flights make Abu Dhabi a more accessible option for leisure, cultural activities, and business trips. Meanwhile, passengers from the UAE and other countries within Etihad’s network now have easier access to Uzbekistan’s tourism offerings.
Abu Dhabi draws visitors with its blend of contemporary infrastructure, rich cultural heritage, and diverse recreational options. Notable attractions include the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Saadiyat Island’s cultural district, and Yas Island’s entertainment venues.
Uzbekistan provides visitors with a rich historical and cultural heritage, along with vibrant, growing cities. Its architectural monuments in Samarkand and Bukhara, combined with the modern cityscape of Tashkent, make it an appealing destination for tourists from around the world.
The introduction of the new route addresses the increasing demand for air travel between Uzbekistan and the UAE. It also facilitates greater tourist influx, boosts business contacts, and broadens economic collaboration. For Etihad Airways, entering the Uzbekistan market aligns with its broader strategy to grow its route network and reinforce Abu Dhabi’s position as a global aviation hub connecting diverse regions.
