Hasakah, 11 Aug (SANA)Hasakah Deputy Governor Ahmad al-Hilali said in a statement to the Hasakah Media Directorate on Monday that more than 400 families have returned to the countryside ofRas al-Ainin northeast Syria after the necessary security measures were taken, while work continues to clear mines and remnants of war and reopen main roads.

Al-Hilali said the right to return to one’s land and home is an inherent right guaranteed by the state to every Syrian citizen, stressing that such a return must be safe and dignified and take place away from chaos, discrimination and exclusion.

He said surveying and clearance operations remain underway in several areas to facilitatethe return of more residents.

Al-Hilali said the returns help build bridges of trust and strengthen peaceful coexistence among residents of the same area.

In this context, a delegation ofdisplaced peoplefrom Hasakah visited their areas of origin to assess conditions and meet with their families. He described the visit as an important step toward restoring communication and trust among members of the community.

Al-Hilali said acts of rioting, vandalism, assaults and incitement to strife witnessed in Ras al-Ain andHasakahare unequivocally condemned and rejected.

He added that people’s concerns or disagreements must not turn into attacks on property, particularly state institutions, their symbols and the national flag, which he said represents the sacrifices of the Syrian people.

The competent authorities have begun taking legal measures, Al-Hilali said, adding that a number of people involved in the riots have already been arrested in several areas.

“There will be no leniency toward anyone seeking to incite strife or threatencivil peace,” he said.

Al-Hilali stressed that the state is present and its institutions continue to operate, adding that efforts will continue to strengthen their presence, activate their work and uphold the rule of law.

He stressed that Hasakah must not be allowed to become an arena for strife, affirming that efforts will continue to ensure the security of its people, preserve the province’s unity and civil peace, and facilitate the safe and dignified return of everyone wishing to return to their land.
