Damascus, Aug. 12 (SANA)Attorney General of the Syrian Arab Republic, Counselor JudgeHassan al-Turba, said that the death sentences issued on Tuesday against a number of figures from the deposed regime represent a historic day for justice.

In a statement on Tuesday, Judge al-Turba said the verdicts went through all stages of judicial proceedings, stressing that criminal law is sufficient to prosecute perpetrators of crimes.

He said no selectivity was applied in the trials of ousted regime figures, adding that the prosecution of all those who committed crimes against the Syrian people will continue.

“We have thousands of names currently being tried, and we will coordinate with Interpol to implement arrest warrants and extradition procedures. We are at the beginning of the path of justice,” al-Turba said.
