Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi Meets the Chairman and Members of the Muntasiron Parliamentary Bloc ••••• Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi met today, Tuesday, with the Chairman of the Muntasiron Parliamentary Bloc, MP Faleh Hassan Al-Khazali, and members of the bloc. During the meeting, the two sides discussed a range of issues related to citizens’ public services, living conditions, economic conditions, and environmental concerns, as well as several national issues. The Prime Minister affirmed that the government has developed an economic vision based on activating development sectors, alongside the commencement of preparations for a program and performance budget. He noted that the government is moving forward in addressing the challenges facing Iraq, foremost among them combating corruption and eliminating its sources, as well as strengthening institutional performance. The Prime Minister stated that the government is moving toward more effective investment of Iraq’s oil wealth by increasing production rates and developing energy-related industries, with the aim of gradually moving away from a rentier economy and dependence on the oil industry. He noted that the establishment of the Energy City will contribute to generating more job opportunities and opening broad prospects for domestic and foreign investment. The Prime Minister called on members of the Council of Representatives to support the government’s efforts by adopting the program and performance budget, which would bring about a fundamental change in the country’s economic landscape, enhance spending efficiency, and link resources to development objectives and outcomes. For his part, MP Faleh Al-Khazali emphasized the importance of cooperation and coordination between the legislative and executive authorities and expressed the bloc’s support for the government’s policies in combating corruption and advancing economic and development reforms. Al-Khazali also referred to the bloc’s follow-up efforts and studies on several issues, particularly those related to regulating foreign labor and pursuing corruption cases. He affirmed the bloc’s commitment to continuing its oversight and legislative role in a manner that contributes to supporting the reform process. The attending members of the Council of Representatives also expressed their readiness to continue cooperation and coordination with the government and to support its approach to implementing economic and development programs and plans aimed at improving public services and citizens’ living conditions.
