Gold prices edge higher in Syrian market
Damascus, August 11 (SANA)The price of a gram of 21-karatgoldin theSyrian marketrose by 50 Syrian pounds on Tuesday afternoon compared with the rate recorded earlier in the day, according to the latest bulletin issued by the General Authority for Precious Metals Management.The authority said the price of a gram of 21-karat gold reached 15,950 Syrian pounds for sale and 15,650 pounds for purchase.The price of a gram of 18-karat gold stood at 13,750 Syrian pounds for sale and 13,450 pounds for purchase, while the global market price of an ounce of gold reached $4,373.Earlier on Tuesday, the price of a gram of 21-karat gold had remained stable at Monday’s level, reaching 15,900 Syrian pounds for sale and 15,600 pounds for purchase, according to the authority’s morning bulletin.The General Authority for Precious Metals Management in Syria was established on February 12, 2025, to regulate and develop the gold and precious metals sector, enhance its role in the national economy within an independent financial and administrative framework, and oversee the gold pricing mechanism through goldsmith associations in the governorates.kA/MF
