Amman, Aug 11 (SANA)Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Tuesday urged comprehensive de-escalation across the Middle East and warned against unilateral measures targeting Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.

The king made the remarks during a meeting with aides to members of the US Congress. The talks covered recent regional developments and the need to protect the security of Arab states.

King Abdullah warned of the dangers of land annexation, settlement expansion and exclusionary policies against Palestinians. He also called for an end to Israeli attacks on Muslim and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

In remarks last Wednesday, the monarch urged Arab and Muslim countries to adopt a unified position and coordinate efforts to stop Israeli violations in occupied Jerusalem, particularly at al-Aqsa Mosque. He warned that regional unrest must not be exploited to impose a new reality in the holy city.
