As part of the call, grants will be awarded to co-finance investments aimed at strengthening and modernising the electricity grid in the Republic of Slovenia. Support will be provided for the construction of transformer and distribution substations as well as for the development of new low-voltage and medium-voltage grids.

EU funding will be used to modernise and upgrade the power grid to support the increasing integration of renewable energy sources. The investments will contribute to the development of a modern, resilient, interconnected and flexible grid capable of meeting future energy needs. This will help accelerate the roll-out of e-mobility infrastructure, including electric vehicle charging stations, and support the integration of renewable energy generation and energy storage facilities.

The call for proposals will be published on the dedicated website of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy and will be open to electricity distribution system operators, which operate the network connecting end users to the electricity system.

The call for proposals will make a total of €68,971,951.80 available, of which €14,813.438 will come from the Cohesion Fund and €36,287,840 from the European Regional Development Fund. Minister for Local Self-Government, Cohesion and Regional Developmentdr. Monika Kirbiš Rojssaid on this occasion: “Energy consumption is expected to increase in the coming years. That is why we must act now to ensure the conditions needed for a reliable energy supply and continued development. EU cohesion policy is once again demonstrating its tangible contribution to development. More than €51 million in EU funding will be made available for investments to strengthen our electricity grid, enabling the more efficient integration of renewable energy sources and supporting the rollout of e-mobility.”
