EASA sluit technische assistentie missie bij CASAS succesvol af
From August 4 to 7, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) successfully completed the third and final on-site mission at the Civil Aviation Safety Authority Suriname (CASAS). This formally completes the process of technical assistance to Suriname within the current program. With the Corrective Action Plan (CAP), an important first step has been taken in the process that should lead to the removal of Suriname from the EU Air Safety List.
During the three-day mission, experts from EASA and CASAS worked intensively together to assess the progress of the previously established CAP. In addition to this analysis, the available substantiation was evaluated and outstanding points of interest were discussed. As part of the mission, visits were also made to several airlines.
Despite the completion of the technical assistance mission, CASAS remains committed to finalizing the CAP and submitting it to the European Commission. The eventual removal of Suriname from the EU Air Safety List is dependent on the successful implementation of the proposed corrective measures and their assessment by the European Commission.
The completion of this mission marks an important milestone in the further strengthening of Surinamese aviation supervision and underlines the joint commitment of CASAS and EASA to further improve civil aviation safety in Suriname.

Van 4 tot en met 7 augustus jl. heeft de European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) de derde en tevens laatste on-site missie bij de Civil Aviation Safety Authority Suriname (CASAS) succesvol afgerond. Hiermee is het traject van technische assistentie aan Suriname binnen het huidige programma formeel afgerond. Met het opgestelde Corrective Action Plan (CAP) is een belangrijke eerste stap gezet in het proces dat moet leiden tot de verwijdering van Suriname van de EU Air Safety List. Gedurende de driedaagse missie werkten deskundigen van EASA en CASAS intensief samen aan de beoordeling van de voortgang van het eerder opgestelde CAP. Naast de analyse hiervan werd de beschikbare onderbouwing geëvalueerd en werden openstaande aandachtspunten besproken. Als onderdeel van de missie werden tevens bezoeken gebracht aan enkele luchtvaartmaatschappijen. Ondanks de afronding van de technische assistentie missie blijft CASAS zich onverminderd inzetten voor het finaliseren van het CAP en de indiening daarvan bij de Europese Commissie. De uiteindelijke verwijdering van Suriname van de EU Air Safety List is afhankelijk van de succesvolle implementatie van de voorgestelde corrigerende maatregelen en de beoordeling daarvan door de Europese Commissie. De afronding van deze missie markeert een belangrijke mijlpaal in de verdere versterking van het Surinaamse luchtvaarttoezicht en onderstreept de gezamenlijke inzet van CASAS en EASA om de veiligheid van de burgerluchtvaart in Suriname verder te verbeteren.
