Ministerio de Educación inicia jornada nacional de capacitación para más de 90,000 docentes de cara al inicio del año escolar 2026-2027
Santo Domingo.- The Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic (Minerd) began this Monday a national training day for all levels, modalities and educational subsystems, as part of the preparations for the start of the 2026-2027 school year, scheduled for next August 24, when more than 2 million students will return to the classrooms.
The day, which will be held under the motto “Education that inspires and transforms,” will be led by 11,098 teacher trainers, who were previously trained to conduct this process in the country's educational centers.
The Ministry pointed out that the motto places the role of the teacher as a driver of learning and an agent of transformation in the classrooms at the center of the day. In this sense, training seeks to strengthen knowledge, practices and pedagogical tools to generate better learning opportunities for students.
During the training process, topics such as planning through didactic sequences, evaluation by competencies and the use of their results to improve learning, as well as the use of active technologies in classrooms, among other content aimed at strengthening teaching practice, will be addressed.
The initiative is part of the efforts promoted by the Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, to guarantee that the educational system meets optimal conditions to receive students and develop teaching and learning processes from the first day of classes.
For Minerd, the training of teaching staff constitutes one of the central components of these preparations, allowing educators to update their knowledge and strengthen the tools they will use during the new school year.
The educational portfolio pointed out that the participation of thousands of educators throughout the country will allow new tools and approaches for teaching to be shared, while preparing teaching teams for the challenges and opportunities posed by the next school year.
Teacher training will be developed in parallel with other actions carried out by Minerd as part of the preparations for the next school year, with interventions aimed at both pedagogical strengthening and the adaptation of the conditions of educational centers.
These tasks include the provision of educational materials and resources to schools, the expansion and adaptation of infrastructure, as well as other actions aimed at guaranteeing the physical and pedagogical conditions necessary to receive students.

La iniciativa forma parte de los esfuerzos impulsados por el ministro de Educación,Luis Miguel De Camps, para garantizar que el sistema educativo reúna lascondiciones óptimas para recibir a los estudiantesy desarrollar los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje desde el primer día de clases. Para el Minerd, laformación del personal docenteconstituye uno de los componentes centrales de estos preparativos, al permitir quelos educadores actualicen sus conocimientos y fortalezcan las herramientasque utilizarán durante el nuevo año lectivo. La cartera educativa puntualizó que la participación de miles de educadores en todo el país permitirá poner en comúnnuevas herramientas y enfoques para la enseñanza, al tiempo que prepara a los equipos docentes para losretos y oportunidades que plantea el próximo año escolar. La formación docente se desarrollará de manera paralela a otras acciones que ejecuta el Minerd como parte de los preparativos para el próximo año escolar, con intervenciones dirigidas tanto alfortalecimiento pedagógicocomo a laadecuación de las condiciones de los centros educativos. Entre estas labores figuran la dotación demateriales y recursos educativosa las escuelas, la ampliación y adecuación deinfraestructuras, además de otras acciones destinadas a garantizar lascondiciones físicas y pedagógicas necesarias para recibir a los estudiantes.
