Pezeshkian: Leader underscored ‘national unity’ against enemy plots during 7-hour meeting
President Masoud Pezeshkian has offered details of his recent meeting with the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, saying Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei underscored the importance of preserving “national unity and cohesion” to counter enemy plots.
Pezeshkian made the remarks on Monday on the sidelines of a meeting with the secretaries-general of political parties and political figures at the Interior Ministry.
The Iranian chief executive said his “very productive” meeting with the Leader, which lasted for about seven hours, provided an opportunity to discuss all the major issues facing the country today.
Pezeshkian also said “maintaining unity and cohesion” was Ayatollah Khamenei’s most important recommendation.
“Today, the enemy’s entire strategy is focused on sowing discord. We must avoid any kind of disagreement and refrain from any words or statements that could undermine our unity,” the president said.
“There may be disagreements at home, but we will speak with one voice when we face the outside world, so that our adversaries understand that our beloved Iran stands firm in defending its independence, dignity, and beliefs.”
Meanwhile, the president said people’s livelihoods, employment, and housing, as well as the problems caused by sanctions, the resilience of the government and nation, and public support were among the other issues raised at the meeting.
Addressing Iranians, Pezeshkian said, “Dear people of Iran, if you see shortcomings or failures during these difficult times, please know that we are deeply sorry. We are wholeheartedly committed to serving you, and rest assured that we will spare no efforts to resolve your problems.”
Reports said on Sunday that Pezeshkian had held talks with the Leader concurrent with the beginning of the third year of his presidency.
The United States and Israel launched their illegal war of aggression against Iran on February 28 by assassinating the late Leader of the Islamic Revolution Seyyed Ali Khamenei, along with senior military commanders.
Forty days later, on April 8, the enemies were forced to accept a ceasefire amid Iran’s brave resistance, decisive retaliatory operations, and powerful grip on the Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran and Washington signed the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 17, but the US effectively violated the deal by striking Iran again and imposing a naval blockade on the country.
In response, the Iranian armed forces conducted devastating attacks against strategic American targets across West Asia. Furthermore, Tehran declared the Strait of Hormuz closed to all traffic.
