On August 10, 2026, the Saramacca Fruit & Vegetable Farmers Cooperative made an important contribution to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries (LVV) for the strengthening of the agricultural sector in the region. During an official presentation, a projector was handed over to LVV-Saramacca with the aim of improving training, workshops and meetings within the community. This transfer took place at the Agriculture Directorate.
John van de Zijde, member of the Saramacca Fruit & Vegetable Farmers Cooperative, commented: “We are proud of our cooperative and the way in which we work together to develop our agricultural businesses. This donation is a confirmation of our commitment to the agricultural sector and we are pleased to be able to contribute to the development of the region.”
Cooperative President Judith Sloote-Rattar emphasized that this donation is a win-win situation aimed at facilitating education and knowledge sharing among the resort leaders and farmers in the district. “We want to support our community by providing technological resources that can stimulate the development of agricultural practices,” said Sloote-Rattar. She further indicated that the cooperative is active in six districts. They remain committed to developing the agricultural community and encouraging participation and innovation, partly through technological support and education.
Sawirjo Soeparman, deputy director of Central Agriculture, received the projector. “This donation underlines the strong collaboration between the community and the ministry. It allows us to make training and meetings even more effective and accessible, so that we can further develop the agricultural sector together,” said Deputy Director Soeparman.
The handover took place in the context of the collaboration between the cooperative and LVV-Saramacca, which focuses on strengthening the infrastructure and promoting sustainable agricultural initiatives.

Tijdens een officiële overhandiging werd een beamer overgedragen aan LVV-Saramacca met als doel het verbeteren van trainingen, workshops en vergaderingen binnen de gemeenschap. Deze overdracht vond plaats op het directoraat Landbouw. John van de Zijde, lid van de Coöperatie Saramacca Fruit & Vegetable Farmers, merkte op:“Wij zijn trots op onze coöperatie en de wijze waarop wij samenwerken om onze landbouwbedrijven te ontwikkelen. Deze donatie is een bevestiging van onze inzet voor de landbouwsector en wij zijn verheugd dat wij hierbij kunnen bijdragen aan de ontwikkeling van de regio.” Voorzitter Judith Sloote-Rattar van de coöperatie benadrukte dat deze donatie een win-winsituatie is, gericht op het faciliteren van educatie en kennisdeling onder de resortleiders en boeren in het district.“We willen onze gemeenschap ondersteunen door technologische middelen beschikbaar te stellen die de ontwikkeling van de landbouwpraktijken kunnen stimuleren,” aldus Sloote-Rattar. Verder gaf ze aan dat de coöperatie actief is in zes districten. Ze blijven zich inzetten voor de ontwikkeling van de landbouwgemeenschap en het stimuleren van participatie en innovatie, mede door technologische ondersteuning en educatie. Sawirjo Soeparman, onderdirecteur Landbouw Midden, nam de beamer in ontvangst. “Deze donatie onderstreept de sterke samenwerking tussen de gemeenschap en het ministerie. Het stelt ons in staat om trainingen en vergaderingen nog effectiever en toegankelijker te maken, zodat we samen de landbouwsector verder kunnen ontwikkelen,” gaf onderdirecteur Soeparman aan.
