Director general de la Caasd inspecciona obras en distintos sectores y pide paciencia a comerciantes y residentes
Santo Domingo.- The general director of the Santo Domingo Aqueduct and Sewer Corporation (Caasd), engineer Fellito Suberví, inspected the levels of progress of the works carried out in Villas Agrícolas, Villa Juana, Villa Consuelo, Villa Francisca and San Carlos, which come to solve a long-standing problem in the health system of these capital sectors, while asking merchants and community members for “a little patience.”
Engineer Suberví expressed that he is following up on these works of great collective interest with visits to each place to expedite the work and verify the established dates. In fact, in the case of Villa Juana and Villa Consuelo, the works are going well, as could be seen on María Montez Street, between Paraguay and Américo Lugo, as well as on Manuel Ubaldo Gómez Street.
In these sections you can see the progress of the excavations, placement of pipes and closure of the trenches. "This is the route that we have called that of the villas, where we are making commitments on dates with the contractors and the community members of these sectors to resolve the issue of wastewater, obstructions and drinking water as soon as possible. We know how uncomfortable it is, but it is necessary work that had to be done here," explained the official.
The first stop, Fellito Suberví made was on 38th Street or San Juan de la Maguana, in Villas Agrícolas, around the market in that sector, where work is being done on a total change of the sewage system where wastewater from Villa Consuelo and Villa Juana converge.
The director of the Caasd said that when the works are completed they will deliver a complete package to these neighborhoods, because, in addition, they will bring drinking water to homes and businesses that currently do not receive the precious liquid. Fellito Suberví emphasized that the issue of storm drainage does not concern them, but they are doing it as part of a comprehensive plan.
These executions contemplate an initial investment of RD 900 million and are part of the “The Caasd listens to you” program, which brings together historical demands and cries from these sectors and others from districts 2 and 3 of the National District, related to sanitary and storm drainage.
The work is being carried out in sections to reduce the impact on traffic, the marketing of products and merchandise, as well as the mobility of people. On repeated occasions, the director of the Caasd has been emphatic in highlighting that the work is carried out in stages, opening and closing the intervened streets before continuing with the next.

En estos tramos se percibe el avance de las excavaciones, colocación de tuberías y cierre de las zanjas. “Este es el recorrido que hemos llamado el de las villas, donde estamos asumiendo compromisos de fechas con los contratistas y los comunitarios de estos sectores para resolver lo antes posible el tema de las aguas residuales, obstrucciones y agua potable. Sabemos lo incómodo que resulta, pero es un trabajo necesario que había que hacer aquí”,explicó el funcionario. La primera parada, Fellito Suberví la hizo en la calle 38 o San Juan de la Maguana, en Villas Agrícolas, por los alrededores del mercado de ese sector, donde se trabaja en un cambio total del alcantarillado donde convergen aguas residuales de Villa Consuelo y Villa Juana. El director de la Caasd dijo que cuando concluyan las obrasentregarán a estos barrios un paquete completo, porque, además, llevaránagua potable a hogares y negocios que actualmente no reciben el preciado líquido. Fellito Suberví enfatizó que el tema del drenaje pluvial no les compete, pero lo están haciendo como parte de unplan integral. Estas ejecutorias contemplan una inversión inicial deRD 900 millonesy forman parte delprograma “La Caasd te escucha”,que reúnedemandas y clamores históricosde estos sectores y de otros de lascircunscripciones 2 y 3 del Distrito Nacional,relacionados con drenaje sanitario y pluvial. Los trabajos se están desarrollandopor tramospara reducir el impacto sobre el tránsito, la comercialización de productos y mercancías, así como la movilidad de las personas. En reiteradas ocasiones, el director de la Caasd ha sido enfático en destacar que los trabajos se realizande forma escalonada, abriendo y cerrando las calles intervenidas antes de continuar con la siguiente.
