El pueblo dominicano apoyó a sus medallistas centroamericanos en recorrido por diversas calles de Santo Domingo
Santo Domingo.- The Dominican people cheered the medal-winning athletes who competed and won a historical record of 150 medals, in the recently concluded XXV Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026.
The streets of the capital city were filled with thousands of Quisqueyans who, with the national flag in their hands, celebrated along avenues, streets and neighborhoods, before the passing of the caravan full of medalist athletes, who raised patriotic sentiment to its highest level.
The Dominican Republic won 46 gold medals, 37 silver and 67 bronze, in the most important performance of Dominican sports in its entire history in a Central American and Caribbean Games, and it did so as host, for the third time after Santo Domingo 1974 - the so-called XII Games - and in the XV, Santiago 86.
The Minister of Sports, Kelvin Cruz, led the patriotic tour, accompanied by sports officials, vice ministers and general directors, the gold, silver and bronze winning athletes, the coaches and technicians, which started around 3:00 in the afternoon and concluded around 7:00 at night.
The caravan started from the front of the Volleyball Pavilion of the Olympic Center towards John F. Kennedy, Máximo Gómez, Tunti Cáceres, Moca, Nicolás de Ovando, Duarte, Diego Velásquez and Josefa Brea avenues.
It continued along Francisco Henríquez and Carvajal, Mercedes and Piña streets, until reaching George Washington Avenue, in Eugenio María de Hostos Park.
The logistics of the tour were in charge of agents from the General Directorate of Traffic and Land Transportation Security of the Dominican Republic (Digesett), who guided the caravan and oriented the citizens to make the transit viable, thus contributing to guaranteeing mobility throughout the tour.
Finally, the thousands of people participating in the tour enjoyed the artistic presentations of the merengueros Toño Rosario, Sergio Vargas and Fernando Villalona, the exponent of urban music Bullin 47 and the salsero Yiyo Sarante, in Eugenio María de Hostos Park, on George Washington Avenue.

Prosiguió por las calles Francisco Henríquez y Carvajal, Mercedes y Piña, hasta llegar a la avenida George Washington, en el parque Eugenio María de Hostos. La logística del recorrido estuvo a cargo de los agentes de la Dirección General de Seguridad de Tránsito y Transporte Terrestre de República Dominicana(Digesett), quienesguiaron la caravana y orientaron a los ciudadanos para viabilizar el tránsito,contribuyendo así a garantizar la movilidad durante todo el recorrido. Para finalizar, los miles de personas participantes del recorrido disfrutaron de las presentaciones artísticas de los merenguerosToño Rosario, Sergio Vargas y Fernando Villalona, el exponente de la música urbanaBullin 47y el salseroYiyo Sarante, en el parque Eugenio María de Hostos, en la avenida George Washington.
