Damascus, Aug. 9 (SANA)Health Minister Musab al-Ali met on Sunday with German Chargé d’Affaires in Damascus Marcus Hicken to discuss ways to enhance cooperation, coordination and partnership between the two countries in the health sector to support recovery andsustainable developmentefforts.

The meeting discussed the role of German companies in health sector investment, and strengthening cooperation with international organizations and German development institutions, including GIZ, KfW and the Federal Ministry forEconomic Cooperationand Development, according to the ministry statement on Telegram.

The two sides discussed existing health projects and ways to accelerate their implementation, stressing the importance of raising the level of direct and institutional coordination before launching any new projects to ensure they are aligned with the Health Ministry’s priorities and to avoid overlap or fragmentation.

Al-Ali stressed the importance of benefiting from German expertise in supporting recovery and reconstruction paths to strengthen a partnership based on mutual benefit and serve the interests of both countries and peoples.

On June 28, the Health Ministry participated with a delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, KfW, GIZ and the German Embassy in Damascus in a coordination and preparatory workshop to identify recovery priorities and enhance development cooperation.
