Cairo, Aug. 9 (SANA)Egyptian Foreign MinisterBadr Abdelattyand his Turkish counterpart,Hakan Fidan, stressed during a telephone call on Sunday the importance of intensifying efforts to achieve de-escalation and reach lasting and comprehensive understandings that would promote regional security and stability.

In a statement, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said the two ministers discussed the latest regional developments and ongoing efforts to reduce escalation and ease tensions.

They also exchanged views on regional security arrangements aimed at strengthening security and stability across the region, the ministry added.

The two ministers underlined the need for an immediate end to the escalation in the occupied Palestinian territories and for the implementation of the first and second phases of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan, including the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday, Abdelatty discussed the latest regional and international developments with Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein during a telephone call. Their talks also addressed efforts to end the regional escalation and ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and Iraq.
