Tartous, Aug. 8 (SANA)Tartous Portreceived three transit vessels carrying nearly 29,000 livestock from Brazil and Spain, ahead of their transport by road toJordanandIraq, as transit activity through the port continues to expand.

Two vessels arriving from Brazil were carrying about 15,000 calves, while a third vessel from Spain was transporting more than 14,000 sheep, the Syrian General Authority for Borders and Customs said on Saturday.

Specialized teams began unloading the animals after completing the required inspection and veterinary health procedures, while measures were taken to ensure their safety during unloading and transport and to maintain smooth operations inside the port.

The authority said Tartous Port continues to provide logistical support and streamline procedures for transit shipments, helping speed up unloading and transport operations and improve the port’s capacity to handle cargo bound for countries across the region.

The shipments are part of growing transit activity through Tartous, strengthening the port’s role as a hub linking Mediterranean shipping routes with regional markets and reinforcing Syria’s position as a transit corridor for regional trade and transport.

Tartous is one ofSyria‘s main Mediterranean ports and handles a wide range of imports, exports, and transit cargo, including shipments moving onward to neighboring countries.
